Colour Schemes
A Matter Of Taste
Having designed, built and installed more than 20,000 kitchens we understand that everyone’s taste in kitchen colours is different. The range of colour preferences is almost as numerous as the clients we work for. While colours are a matter of personal taste, colour selection remains one of the most critical aspects to be considered when designing your new kitchen.
Timeless Colours or a Step Back in Time?
Anyone old enough to remember the 1970s will recall the “burnt orange” and “lime green” benchtops that were “on-trend” at that time. Solid pink or yellow baths often completed the picture! You hardly need to wonder when a home was built if it still boasts these colours. While some live happily with these reminders of a bygone era, modern kitchen and bathroom designs have tended towards much more sophisticated, understated colour schemes.
How to Introduce Colour
Fans of popular lifestyle programs such as The Block will notice that modern designs favour neutral colour schemes in the kitchen with a bold or contrasting splashback and complimentary benchtops. The range of colours available for tiled or glass splashbacks is almost limitless. At Imperial Kitchens we can arrange a glass splashback for you in any colour that appeals to you. The colour range of stone and laminated benchtops we offer also reflects the direction that modern kitchen design has adopted.
Choose Carefully
As in the era of lime green benchtops, it’s extremely important to carefully choose your kitchen colour if you want to achieve a “timeless” design. Our expert kitchen designers have years of experience in understanding what colours are complimentary and which colours will “scream” at you! There are dozens of excellent magazines and websites from which you can draw inspiration to ensure that the colours you settle on will be as pleasing to you in years to come as they were when you made your selection.
Our photo galleries offer a sample of our recent work and are also a valuable resource for you to choose what you like and don’t like. Imperial Kitchens also offers a modern showroom facility with three complete kitchen packages for you to view. We’ve incorporated a range of colours and finishes in the showroom to assist you when selecting colours and finishes for you home. Needless to say, we also offer product and colour samples for you to take with you so you can be satisfied that your selections will compliment your existing or proposed décor.
