House Rules 2020 His and Her Robes

April 15, 2020 | House Rules 2020

If you have the space there’s no doubt that a “his and hers” walk-in robe (WIR) is a luxurious feature to complement any bedroom in your home. In House Rules “High Stakes” 2020, the generously apportioned WIR adjoins the impressive master suite. The layout in this Gold Coast penthouse was somewhat unusual, with the apartment itself boasting lots of curves and angles due to the circular shape of the building. While unusual curves and angles do present a challenge, we were happy to work collaboratively with the contestants to successfully design a walk-in-robe that drew complimentary comments (and high scores) from the judges. We’re confident the owners will also appreciate the details and quality in this WIR, while enjoying it for years to come.

If you’re designing your own WIR and want the same level of luxury as you’ve seen on House Rules, here’s a quick snapshot of what was included to get your creative juices flowing. The cabinetry is a Polytec product called Panacotta Matt, and the tops are Calacutta D’Oro Matera by Smartsone. We think a stylish and sophisticated result has been achieved, combining practicality and visual appeal.

And There’s More

Complementing the choice of cabinetry colours the contestants chose stunning, 320mm gold handles, with soft close runners on the drawers and “push-touch” hinges on the overhead joinery. The drawers and hinges are German-made, quality hardware from Hettich. Adding to the design is cleverly placed, ultra-functional LED feature-lighting, plus dedicated shoe racks, and custom-made drawers, perfect for keeping his and her jewellery safe and secure. There’s a generous number of drawers and plenty of hanging space, plus numerous open shelves that should always be included if possible. The contestants decided to allocate more space for the “hers” robe than for “his” which seems sensible. However this is a strictly personal choice that may not suit your needs.
