About House Rules 2020 “High Stakes”

The House Rules series of home renovations was a “must watch” program for many Queenslanders, especially if you were considering a kitchen renovation or were interested in innovative, themed design.

In many of the design shows, specialists are engaged to ensure the project is delivered to a standard that the property owners and judges expect. Kitchens, in particular, are the centrepiece (or “heart”) of most homes, and shortcuts can’t be taken if you want to achieve a quality outcome that is aesthetic and functional. Imperial Kitchens was selected to be one of these specialists, and we designed, manufactured, and installed some of the cabinetry for the show. Elizabeth, one of Imperial Kitchens’ top designers, was heavily involved and even made her first television appearance on the show.

Viewers watch programs like House Rules for a variety of reasons, ranging from a general interest in renovations and DIY projects to seeking inspiration for a renovation project in their own home. Regardless of the motivation, it’s always interesting to see what ideas the contestants bring to the table. It’s equally interesting to see how all the renovation elements come together in the end, particularly given the diversity of the contestants. What you see in the “reveal” episodes is the culmination of much hard work, planning and execution, all within a very challenging timeframe, and often involving contestants with minimal previous experience.
